True Primal's first AIP soup

Why AIP soup? Well it starts with our love of soup, and The Paleo Mom...

True Primal is built around a paleo template. Our goal is to serve up top quality real food to help people get the most out of every meal. We're picky about ingredients, so we've been referencing and guided by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne's work for several years now. Whenever there's a question about the nutritional position of some food, she almost always has some in-depth analysis waiting in her books or on her website.

And so it goes in April 2018, Sarah spoke at Paleo f(x)™, and we had a chance to meet.

We were working on our upcoming soup recipes and trying to figure out what to go with next. Originally we weren't focused on AIP in particular, but fortunately we were able to meet while Sarah was on the Paleo f(x) expo floor, and she was kind enough to discuss several soup topics. It became clear that True Primal needed to launch some AIP-compliant recipes to help serve what has been an under-served community.

Mushrooms?

Sarah suggested featuring mushrooms, which we had not yet used in a recipe. One of our goals is to offer a variety of different vegetables in our soups, to mix up the micro-nutrients, and mushrooms are significantly different from most veggies!

Each mushroom variety has its own unique nutrient composition and can impact the microbiome in different beneficial ways.

Looking in to the nutrition of mushrooms, there is a lot to like. As Sarah says here, the mushroom is "one of the most nutrient-dense foods available in not just the modern food supply, but the hunter-gatherer food supply as well."

Beef & Mushroom Organic Soup

The rich earthy flavor of mushrooms is certainly one of a kind. For our Beef & Mushroom Organic Soup, we pair mushrooms with grass-fed beef, along with onions, carrots, cauliflower and AIP-friendly seasonings, all in chicken bone broth.

This soup is USDA organic and AIP-friendly. As with all our soups, it is also gluten free, grain free, paleo, and packed with all the good stuff!

We're super grateful for Sarah's feedback along the way. We wouldn't have been able to bring this soup to you without her.

A note from Sarah...

"Finally! A nourishing soup made with quality Paleo and AIP ingredients that tastes fantastic and is as easy as heat and serve! I love that True Primal packs their delicious soups with nutrient-dense gut microbiome superstar ingredients like organic mushrooms and vegetables, balanced with quality protein like grass-fed beef in a wholesome bone broth."
